Lyrics

vancouver island july 1974
started this one at puddlewalk in perth county
finished it somewhere around courtenay

rolling river

butterfly
will you take me with you
we'll fly
over the meadowlands
summertime
she's dancing down on the riverbank
under the willows

o rolling river my friend
on your way down to the sea
o rolling river my friend
you are my life song

went down
down to the river in the sunshine
pouring down like honey
and i listened
to the river song
laughing through the trees
downstream the river's dream

o rolling river my friend
on your way down to the sea
o rolling river my friend
you are my life song

window
on the ageless ocean
and blue sky
window on ever widening
circles
round and round we go
the river knows
all returns to the sea

o rolling river my friend
on your way down to the sea
o rolling river my friend
you are my life song
