Story

east across the prairie may 1975

playing mandolin in the car

headed for the wild blue

Lyrics

i am dancing

with the seasons in my song

i am moving

with the spirit in us all

if you can feel it

please reveal it

there's a whole lot of peace in there

i am going

forever going over yonder

i am growing

forever growing to the light

if you can feel it.....

we are learning

forever learning how to be

we are yearning

forever yearning to be free

if you can feel it.....

i am dancing

with the seasons in my song

i am moving

with the spirit in us all

if you can feel it.....

Story

might be the only recording of huckle playing flute

Lyrics

butterfly

will you take me with you

we'll fly

over the meadowlands

summertime

she's dancing down on the riverbank

under the willows

o rolling river my friend

on your way down to the sea

o rolling river my friend

you are my life song

went down

down to the river in the sunshine

pouring down like honey

and i listened

to the river song

laughing through the trees

downstream the river's dream

o rolling river my friend

on your way down to the sea

o rolling river my friend

you are my life song

window

on the ageless ocean

and blue sky

window on ever widening

circles

round and round we go

the river knows

all returns to the sea

o rolling river my friend

on your way down to the sea

o rolling river my friend

you are my life song

sweet surrender

Lyrics

wherever you are

you know i love you

wherever you are

i’m there with you

wherever i am

i hear your heartsong

wherever i am

i’m there with you

i see your smile a thousand places

i hear your voice a thousand ways

it seems i’m lost in this dreaming

i only know the changing of the days

love is my life

love is my giving

love is my teacher

love is my song

but there’s something in you

that gets me thinking

like i don’t know

love at all

what is this place where i know you

where i forget who i am

i touch your soul in simple wonder

and i surrender

i surrender

wende, tommy, straw, david, chris, starshine, and zoe

Lyrics

we must be open

as a flower to the sun

knowing we are rooted in the one

we must be strong

as the oak in all his glory

yet we must bend like the grass

those who have ears to hear

those who have eyes to see

those who have hearts to feel

they will understand

they will understand

there is a house

and it bids us all to enter

the circle inward finds the center

it was written long ago

that we were born to know

if ye shall knock the door will open

those who have ears to hear.....

though the paths seem many

in truth they are but one

though we may stumble we go on

for every lesson learned

there's another to be won

step by step and day by day

we're climbing

keep on climbing

those who have ears to hear.....

we must be open

as a flower to the sun

knowing we are rooted in the one

these words they are not mine

i just pass them down the line

i hear them in the wind and the water

those who have ears to hear.....

we will understand

we will understand

Story

salt spring august 1974

a lazy day at the lake on the sodbuster ranch

Lyrics

hear the music of the sweet songbird

singing in the heat of the day

i've been down in the water

looking to the sun

on a lazy old summer day

i see life in its fullness

rich and green and growing wild

big old trees dancing in the wind song

i am but a child

she's coming home

she's coming home

i've been waiting so long

to hold you close to me

and i know that you're coming home

well i can't help thinking

it's a son of a gun

but you make me feel so fine

even when you're a thousand miles away

i can feel your heart beat in tune to mine

when i read your letter

brought tears to my eyes

i love you more than anyone

i'm getting higher i feel you coming home

she's coming home.....

Story

santiago atitlan december 1974

i didn't take my guitar

a friend loaned me his nylon string classical

missing the e string

i put some green fishing line on it

and wrote a couple songs

Lyrics

your eyes they shine like the morning dew

i seen your light come shining through

cast your ray of love my way

and we will go sailing

up on the winds of heaven

spread your wings like the eagle and we will

fly into the sun

you don’t know

how beautiful you are

you don’t know

how much you can thank your lucky stars

there’s an angel looking out for you

there ain’t no need to fear

you don’t know

how beautiful you are

up and down and round and

round and round we go

but you can’t go up without going down

no need to dwell in a cloudy day

tell them to be gone

tell them to shine on

you have the power if you just

keep it shining strong

you don’t know.....

there’s a certain kind of rhythm

weaving through this tapestry

sometimes it’s hard to hear it drumming

sometimes it’s so clear

sometimes it’s so near

we can all be flowing like the old

river down to the sea

you don’t know.....

you don’t know how beautiful

beautiful you are

Story

campbell river march 1974

on tour with perth county

and momentarily transported to a different time

Lyrics

the man came this morning

with his papers in his hand

speaking words from the city

i don’t quite understand

he said you got no right to be here

this ain’t your land

you better pack up

and move on while you can

so gather the children and load up the wagon

i’m too weary to fight and my spirit’s a-sagging

gather the children and load up the wagon

i’m too weary to fight and my spirit

it’s a-sagging

sarah, sweet sarah

my heart’s all in pieces

there’s fear in the valley

there’s hate in the hills

i built this damn homestead

with the sweat of my brow

now they want it

and they’re ready to kill me

so gather the children.....

big money means guns

and they want the coal from the hills

and i stood by old adrian’s grave

i’m sick to death of this killing

i want my peace of mind

luke was telling me

there’s free land on the prairie

so gather the children.....

Story

calgary april 1976

one night in a fierce storm

the ferry could not land at galiano

Lyrics

wild night on the water

i hear the sailor cry

oh god don't let me die

wild night on the water

wind is howling

thunder is growling

wild night on the water

can there be no peace

can there be no peace in this country

can there be no peace in this land

can there be no peace in our

hearts and our minds

wild night in the city

sirens are wailing

people are ailing

wild night in the city

paranoia can destroy you

wild night in the city

can there be no peace

can there be no peace in this country

can there be no peace in this land

can there be no peace in our

hearts and our minds

there will be peace in this country

there will be peace in this land

when there is peace in our

hearts and our minds
